Company Mission

This is a piece about me

I graduated college in 2014 without a clear career path, but with a deep interest in people—their inner lives, motivations, and struggles. That curiosity eventually led me to medicine, and I earned my MD from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in 2021.

I completed my adult psychiatry residency at Westchester Medical Center, where I also participated in a three-year weekly seminar in psychoanalysis. That experience continues to shape how I think about mental health—deeply, dimensionally, and always in the context of each person’s unique story. I’m now completing a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at Zucker Hillside Hospital, drawn by both the power of early intervention and the rich complexity of human development.

My approach to psychiatry is thoughtful and collaborative. I’m careful with medications, always weighing potential benefits and downsides. I believe the best care comes from working together—through psychotherapy, lifestyle changes, and, when appropriate, medication—to support meaningful and lasting change.

Psychiatry has long felt like the right fit for me. It brings together my passion for understanding the human mind and the influence of my mother, who is a psychotherapist and has been a steady source of inspiration throughout my journey. Outside of the clinic, I enjoy sports, music, and reading—especially anything that sheds light on how people think, feel, and grow.

Company Vision

Thoughtful, individualized psychiatric care that prioritizes maximal functioning, prudent treatment, meaningful change, and lasting well-being.

Services We Provide

What We Offered

Frager Psychiatry PLLC provides personalized evaluations, psychotherapy, and medication management to support lasting emotional growth, resilience, and mental wellness.

Psychiatric Evaluation

A psychiatric evaluation is the first step in understanding who you are and what challenges you're facing. The goal is to develop a formulation—a thoughtful, evolving picture of how your current difficulties have taken shape, drawing from the biological, psychological, and environmental factors in your life. This formulation isn't static; it grows and deepens as our work continues. But its foundation begins in our first session, and it serves as a roadmap to guide your treatment in a way that is informed, individualized, and meaningful.

Medication Management

Whether I am the first psychiatrist to prescribe you medications or come with a full regimen already in hand, I work with you to find the best combination of medications to foster your flourishing. Psychiatric medications are incredible tools, but also come with side-effects and risks. I devote just as much time to mitigating these risks and removing unnecessary medications as I do to starting new ones. Medications could be continued for many years in some cases, and as sparingly as once or twice a year, depending on one's needs.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is often used as a catchall term, but at its core, it's a structured, intentional process aimed at fostering meaningful psychological change. My goal in therapy is not just symptom relief, but personal transformation—helping individuals grow in the way they relate to others, engage with work, and understand themselves. I approach this work through a blend of psychodynamic exploration and practical strategies drawn from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). Together, we work to uncover deeper patterns, shift unhelpful behaviors, and build a more resilient, fulfilling life.

Frequently Asked Question

I am an out-of-network provider, which means I do not work directly with insurance companies. However, I provide detailed invoices (superbills) that you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement, depending on your plan’s out-of-network benefits. I’m happy to help guide you through that process if needed.

Appointments can be held virtually or in person, depending on what best supports your care. For some, video sessions offer convenience and accessibility without compromising quality. For others—especially young children—in-person visits may be more appropriate. In many cases, a thoughtful combination of both can offer the right balance. We’ll work together to find the approach that fits your needs best.

I work with individuals across a broad spectrum of mental health and neurodevelopmental challenges, including depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, eating disorders, substance use issues, insomnia, bipolar disorder, psychotic disorders, and personality disorders, as well as psychiatric symptoms associated with neurological disorders like dementia and parkinson’s disease. In addition to treating specific diagnoses, I often help patients navigate major life transitions—whether it’s struggling to launch into adulthood, coping with grief and loss, or working through relationship difficulties. My approach is always individualized, aiming to understand the full context of each person’s experience and support meaningful, lasting growth.

Because I am still in the process of completing a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry, I’m currently only treating patients 18 years old and above. I look forward to expanding my practice to include children and adolescents in the near future.
